The FNB Stadium is also sometimes known as the calabash or soccer city due to its form which resembles African pot. The construction itself started in the late 80s and then opens in the 1989. Since then, this 105×68 meters field size stadium has been hosting so many historical events in it. For instance, it was once chosen as the very first venue for activist Nelson Mandela to spread his speech to the nation after being freed.
